Just when you thought it was safe to stock up for that SuperBowl party, a number of recalls could leave your hopes of a sickness-free game more deflated than Tom Brady’s footballs!
In a move sure to dismay kids everywhere, CNN reports that Tyson Foods recalled 36,420 pounds of chicken nuggets – not because of pathogens but because rubber got into the production process. Chewy chicken, indeed.
On a similar note, Perdue Foods (not to be confused with US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue) recalled their own SimplySmart Organic ready-to-eat chicken nuggets products due to adulteration from wood — like we hope the LA Rams will splinter the Patriots’ defensive line! (See what I did there?)
In other food safety news, General Mills is recalling their Gold Medal unbleached flour due to a salmonella scare, while Whole Foods issued a voluntary recall for Satur Farms baby spinach products across eight states.
Finally, over 3,000 cartons of fresh peaches, nectarines and plums have been recalled by Jac. Vandenberg, Inc., because of potential Listeria contamination. We know the Rams will plumb the depths of their offensive playbook, knowing a win wouldn’t make Bill Belichick feel too peachy.
Okay, I’m out! I’ll be here all week, folks. Don’t forget to tip your waitress!
